Fuerteventura versus the Balearic Islands
How do you choose between Fuerteventura and one of the Balearic Islands? Well if you’re taking a winter holiday and looking for some winter sun, then Fuerteventura is absolutely the best choice.
The main holiday islands that form the Balearics are Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca. Each island has its own atmosphere and generally attracts a different type of holidaymaker. For example, party animals will love the Ibiza nightlife, couples and families enjoy Majorca and those seeking a more laid back holiday might choose Menorca. Fuerteventura doesn’t yet have a huge amount of really wild nightlife but, it does have the most fantastic beaches of all and caters to every other aspect you could wish for.
Fuerteventura is approx 4 hours flight from the UK whereas, the Balearics are approx 2½ hours. This, coupled with the fact that the Balearics are off of the east coast of Spain and the Canaries are off of the west coast of Africa, gives you an idea of the difference in temperature and sunshine hours too. Fuerteventura is warm and sunny all year round and has very little rain. The Balearics have good summer weather and are best visited between May and September.
